A personalised bedtime story, read aloud by a gentle narrator

A new adventure every night? Your child chooses their story from pictures, then listens: a calm voice reads every page, and discreet sounds accompany the forest, the waves or the starry night. Browse “The Missing Star”, a real book created with the service.

Leaf through a real book

Ting-ting! Every morning, Lila rang the little bell by her door and listened to its music drift across the sky. “Quick as a cloud!” she called, skipping after the sound.
Tilt rolled up with his toolbox. “Let's try a louder tap!” he said, but his tiny hammer made a squeak instead. Lila grinned. “Did you hear that, Mia?”

How bedtime reading works

When the book opens, your child (or you) ticks what they want: the narrator, the sound effects, both, or neither. The narrator reads the page on screen and then stops; she carries on when your child turns the page. Nothing runs on its own: your child sets the pace.

The sound effects follow the story page by page. They were chosen when the story was written, according to the place and moment of each scene, from thirteen soundscapes:

  • Forest · Meadow · Jungle · Beach and waves · Under the sea · Wind in the clouds · Snow and ice · Gentle rain · Starry night · Space · Cosy home · Castle · Party

They stay very discreet, well below the voice, wrapping the reading without covering it.

Stories made for falling asleep

Choose the “gentle” mood: the stories are calm, with no villain and nothing scary, and the last page often ends under the stars. Add a value to pass on (patience, sharing, friendship…): it slips into what the characters do, without a lecture.

For ages 3 to 5, a little refrain comes back page after page, like a lullaby; for older children, the suspense stays gentle.

You stay in control

  • The voice is generated by artificial intelligence and always labelled as such, in the reader and in the book.
  • No microphone, nothing recorded at home: the app only reads.
  • The voice is optional: you can read it yourself, as always.
  • The book is also available as a PDF for reading on paper, bedside lamp on.

Frequently asked questions

Is the voice a real person?

No. It is a voice generated by artificial intelligence, chosen for its softness and slow pace. The reader says so every time it reads.

Does it work on phones and tablets?

Yes: on iPhone, iPad, Android and computer, in a recent browser. No app to install.

Is read-aloud an extra?

No. It is included with every book, including the free one.

Can we listen offline?

Not yet: the reader needs a connection. The PDF can be read anywhere.
